This 5,000 square foot office space was designed for a charitable foundation that supports organizations helping Chicago children and families.

Considering that the staff does not directly interact with the community in dispensing aid, the space is designed with a subtle reminder of their mission. A luminous horizon of children and families, who benefit from the foundation’s efforts, is positioned on the curving polycarbonate walls greeting all those who enter the foundation.

To accommodate the staff’s long hours of reading and reviewing grant proposals, private offices are arranged around a central “reading room”. This space is designed as a more comfortable alternative to the private office as well as a place for impromptu gatherings.
